Georgia crash reporting is governed by O.C.G.A. § 40-6-273 and related provisions; the standard form is the Georgia Uniform Motor Vehicle Accident Report.
How this actually works
The Georgia Uniform Motor Vehicle Accident Report is the document every insurer starts with. It lists drivers, vehicles, insurers, passengers, witnesses, the officer's diagram, contributing factors and any citations issued.
You can request a copy from the responding agency — city police, county police, sheriff's office or Georgia State Patrol — or download it through the state's online portal using the report number, date and location. Agencies typically charge a small fee.
Read the report carefully as soon as you get it. Wrong insurer information, a missing witness or an inaccurate narrative is far easier to correct in the first weeks than after the adjuster has built a file around it. Officers can and do file supplemental reports.
